Inspection of residential pools have begun in the municipality

We would like to inform you that an inspector has begun on-site inspections to verify the safety of residential pools. These inspections will take place until the end of August and are conducted in accordance with the provincial Residential Pool Safety Regulations, which aim to ensure the protection of young children and ensure adequate safety standards.

⚠️The inspector is identified by the high visibility vest.

In May 2021, the Quebec government announced new rules regarding pool safety, which came into effect on July 1, 2021. These rules are intended to make the facilities surrounding residential pools safer: in-ground, above-ground, semi-inground, and portable alike. These new rules aim to control occupant access to the pool through simple measures such as installing fence with a safety door.

This regulation applies to all pools, regardless of their installation date, and residential pool owners have until September 30, 2025, to bring their installation into compliance. It is therefore important that residents affected by these new rules are aware of the changes to ensure compliance. There are no acquired rights when it comes to safety, even if your pool has been installed for many years. You must comply with the Provincial standards currently in effect.

Your safety and that of your loved ones is our top priority. Let’s stay vigilant together for a safe and enjoyable summer!
